<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A couple of weeks ago I celebrated my 31st birthday. Here are a couple of looks from that week.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CFlKJXoRzbs/VNC8pSoPO-I/AAAAAAAAB0o/4gUFXH_aARY/s1600/DSC_3550b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CFlKJXoRzbs/VNC8pSoPO-I/AAAAAAAAB0o/4gUFXH_aARY/s1600/DSC_3550b.jpg" height="320" width="170" /></a></div>
This was the outfit for my actual birthday lunch out with a friend. I have had the top for over 2 years, from an Italian brand called Calliope: leggings are 3 years old from Boohoo and the ankle boots are from an Italian market back in October<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hIp9vjbFAU0/VNC9JJ-c5_I/AAAAAAAAB0w/mLUeENeRPfc/s1600/DSC_3562.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hIp9vjbFAU0/VNC9JJ-c5_I/AAAAAAAAB0w/mLUeENeRPfc/s1600/DSC_3562.jpg" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And this was the mani for that day. This is from the Christmas limited edition Haute Punk collection by KIKO in the colour 03 Adrenaline Ocean Green . It is a deep emerald green with a tonne of mainly gold and also silver glitter in it; I was very pleasantly surprised by this as this photo was with 2 coats and removing it wasn't a pain in the behind AT ALL, unlike most glitter polishes. Well done KIKO! Always after my heart, in my opinion the best brand out there for quality - price ratio.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mDk7_Pt1T8I/VNC-kDYZIlI/AAAAAAAAB08/AQIo6_VXVY0/s1600/DSC_3569.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mDk7_Pt1T8I/VNC-kDYZIlI/AAAAAAAAB08/AQIo6_VXVY0/s1600/DSC_3569.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a></div>
This was my get up for the Saturday night celebrations. I would be lying if I didn't say I was utterly in love with this dress! I lusted over it for weeks on iClothing but at a + €100 price I could not have justified myself to my wallet, so imagine my utter surprise when it dropped to just €45 during the Black Friday weekend sale!! I was literally bawled over.<br />
It's so well finished and also made of a really thick material so very apt for icy wintry nights out; it is also surprisingly stretchy! I was able to dance in this comfortably all night long, not a care in the world! The boots are the same as the above picture. (I do apologise for the towel behind me on the floor, one of my house mate's 2 cats was having an absolute ball that evening dragging that around the house and there was no telling her I wanted a clear frame for my outfit shot).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-v__9yrVFLz0/VNDAmO-wvnI/AAAAAAAAB1I/8L5QXXpzWRU/s1600/barry%2Bm%2Bgelly%2Bhi%2Bshine%2Bgreen%2Bberry%2Brimmel%2Bglitter%2Bbomb%2Breview.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-v__9yrVFLz0/VNDAmO-wvnI/AAAAAAAAB1I/8L5QXXpzWRU/s1600/barry%2Bm%2Bgelly%2Bhi%2Bshine%2Bgreen%2Bberry%2Brimmel%2Bglitter%2Bbomb%2Breview.jpg" height="179" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And this was the mani I was sporting that night. It featured one of my all time favourite nail polishes, Barry M Gelly Gi Shine in green berry, teamed with Bling Thing from the Rimmel London Christmas collection Glitter Bomb, nicely gifted to me by the lovely Yaz from <a href="http://glittermamawishes.com/" target="_blank">Glitter Mama Wishes</a> .<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-w9wT5JORTDQ/VNEPh4twAYI/AAAAAAAAB1Y/ffQRZrFDAFM/s1600/DSC_3584b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-w9wT5JORTDQ/VNEPh4twAYI/AAAAAAAAB1Y/ffQRZrFDAFM/s1600/DSC_3584b.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
And this my face of the night from that day.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Aaahh, winter: my favourite season! I know, I'm crazy but....hey, what's new?!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The one thing I don't like about it though is the havoc it wreaks on my face.
Cold weather skin care is hard enough to crack as it is, never mind for someone with uber sensitive skin living in a really windy country. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Central heating, wind, temperature differences, rain, snow, they all contribute to messing up the hydration balance of your skin. What I need to pay particular care to is my face, most other areas seem perfectly fine. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So here follows a compendium <a name='more'></a>of my winter skin care essentials, some of which I have been including in my routine for a good few years.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
La Roche Posay Rosaliac AR intense serum</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Aimed at skin types prone to redness, this is for me a God sent! When I use it I don't look too much like a misplaced clown. And my face doesn't hurt so much during the day.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

This is now the third winter I face using this moisturiser and I could not be any happier! One tub is well enough to last me all winter long, providing amazing hydration ALL DAY LONG.</div>

La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5</div>
<br />
You'll find a full review I wrote if you head <a href="http://hazyfairyland.blogspot.ie/2013/07/la-roche-posay-cicaplast-baume-b5-review.html" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
I apply this mainly in the evening for badly beaten lips, on my nose and chin that get easily dry around central heating (but don;t you just love being able to heat up your house in less than half an hour!). I also use it on the knuckles of my hands and my wrists and sometimes on my cheeks for a bit of recovery if I have been out in the cold all day long.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: small;">This is one of those items that has been a constant feature in my bag/beauty regime for about 5 years now. Although I was a slave to the no tint one that got recently discontinued (sob!), I am still finding myself reaching for this every morning when I wake up and before I apply any lip product, and every night before I go to bed. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: small;">This is an all year round saviour for me as it's also very handy and helpful with its SPF during the summer.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: small;"> KIKO luxurious lashes waterproof mascara</span></div>
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: small;">With winter comes annoying strong, cold winds and with them watery, teary eyes. And when you have eyes that will water just by looking at them(I kid you not!) like me, then your number one priority eye make-up wise is Waterproof mascara.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">When I am not sporting lash extensions (not that often recently, they solve a multitude of problems,including runny mascara with sensitive eyes) this is the only mascara I use, especially in winter.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">You can cry and it won't budge, it won't even transfer to your brow bone, which is an issue I tend to have with many mascaras. Also it's not hard to remove wither.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">My only one issue with it is that once you open the tube the first time, it goes clumpy more quickly than most drugstore mascaras I have tried before. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">I am ecstatic that they now ship to Ireland and I am looking forward to the day they physically come back here: PLEASE! </span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">They are by far my favourite make-up brand, I think they are great quality for the prices they offer, although I can't make use of their foundations, bronzers and blushes, but I wouldn't expect an Italian brand to cater for the really pale amongst us. Maybe they could if they started opening stores/counters more in Northern Europe. And I absolutely love the fact they have small special edition collections all year round! </span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;">I will also admit a slight addiction to their wipes, which are VERY difficult to find when you have really sensitive skin (I know, I know, face wipes are the Devil, so they are! but these are SO damn good!).</span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: small;"> </span>The Body Shop coconut body butter</div>
<br />
It does what it says on the tin. Simple as. And it satisfies my coconut sc<i>e</i>nt addiction. If they made the Vanilla Brulé line permanent including a body butter or body milk, I would probably take to eating it! (I bought the shower gel and body mist as my Christmas present to myself and I just wanna lick myself all the time!).<br />

Cocoa Brown chocolate whip body moisturiser</div>
<br />
Although I am not a chocolate lover (cue the chorus of "what?! WHY? HOW?!?!") I love the high hydration this product gives me and the fact everyone wants to smell and bite me. It makes for an interesting conversation starter I have to say.<br />

I hope you enjoyed this post and if you feel like sharing your own winter must haves, do feel free to leave them in a comment below.<br />

<br />
<br />
This won't be the first time I mention this brand,<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"> <a href="http://hazyfairyland.blogspot.ie/2013/02/cocoa-brown-tan-photos-review.html" target="_blank">here</a></span> you can read the review I wrote last year about their first ever product. <br />
<br />
I have decided to share my appreciation of this brand with you because it deserves all the explosive success it is getting.<br />
Its founder Marissa Carter has always believed in us bloggers and <a name='more'></a>our "power" and in my humble opinion I do believe we helped greatly to get the brand off the ground. Herself and her PR team have always had a very warm and personable, yet professional relationship with the media and especially bloggers.<br />
Some people may not find it efficient but if you're bronzing up Hollywood stars for the Academy Awards ceremony coming from little old Ireland, it must mean you are doing something right.<br />
<br />
I have also picked to cover Cocoa Brown because over the course of the last 18 months or so I have had quite a few people with albinism, very sensitive skin or rocking the uber pale look from all over the globe, asking for recommendations for products, and time and time again I have found myself advocating their products.<br />
Christmas parties season is now in full swing and we all wanna look extra perfect, don't we?! Well here are a couple of products that will help you do exactly that! <br />
<br />
Today I will feature their body scrub and gradual self tanner.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lESjAkeE3tk/VImKLhB-PWI/AAAAAAAABwM/EFvPOItXTak/s1600/cocoa_brown_Gentle_Bronze_review.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lESjAkeE3tk/VImKLhB-PWI/AAAAAAAABwM/EFvPOItXTak/s1600/cocoa_brown_Gentle_Bronze_review.jpg" height="320" width="243" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Gentle Bronze, RRP €5.99 </div>
<br />
Gentle Bronze is the brand's gradual tanner that allows you complete control on the desired depth of your tan. <br />
Marketed as a moisturiser with a subtle hint of tanner, it leaves your skin hydrated while giving you a subtle hint of colour. Because it has a smaller quantity of DHA (the tan developing agent) it doesn't smell anywhere near as bad as your average fake tan does which allows you to walk out without necessarily having to shower first.<br />
I also call this "the tan for the blind and fake tan challenged", as you can slap it on like you would your normal body lotion without worrying about streaks, ensuring you spread it properly on previously exfoliated and regularly moisturised skin.<br />
If you are doing a full body application I would suggest you wash your applying hand whenever you move to a new area (legs to arms for example) or your skin will be slightly tinted for a few days. Also always ensure your body is dry before getting dressed.<br />
If you have been reading my blog or if you know me, you will know I am not a huge fan of fake tan for a variety of reasons, however this past summer I developed a mild "addiction"to Gentle Bronze and here are a few photos...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-D8LsIy1KcFo/VImTZT8geNI/AAAAAAAABwo/tE7lQ9Iy7fk/s1600/DSC_0504~01~01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-D8LsIy1KcFo/VImTZT8geNI/AAAAAAAABwo/tE7lQ9Iy7fk/s1600/DSC_0504~01~01.jpg" height="276" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xhFMKpaM4VQ/VImTZkykOsI/AAAAAAAABw4/NRs_VCM0Kcc/s1600/DSC_0528.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xhFMKpaM4VQ/VImTZkykOsI/AAAAAAAABw4/NRs_VCM0Kcc/s1600/DSC_0528.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uJH6bn_8e-Y/VImTs92LlEI/AAAAAAAABxA/y3Kg_mxYX9s/s1600/DSC_0120%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uJH6bn_8e-Y/VImTs92LlEI/AAAAAAAABxA/y3Kg_mxYX9s/s1600/DSC_0120%5B1%5D.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fXs_5cZ1uyc/VImUWM76c3I/AAAAAAAABxI/SfRCdYoxIBk/s1600/DSC_0179%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fXs_5cZ1uyc/VImUWM76c3I/AAAAAAAABxI/SfRCdYoxIBk/s1600/DSC_0179%5B1%5D.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
As you can see I also apply it to my face although for that and any other fake tan of any kind, a patch test is always advisable.<br />
<br />
And because prepping is the base of all successful self tan applications, this is a nifty secret weapon:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wrYSnX3H64c/VImVjEhPnDI/AAAAAAAABxU/LZfNp9Ns2ME/s1600/cocoa_brown_tough_stuff.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wrYSnX3H64c/VImVjEhPnDI/AAAAAAAABxU/LZfNp9Ns2ME/s1600/cocoa_brown_tough_stuff.jpg" height="320" width="213" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Tough Stuff, RRP € 5.99</div>
<br />
Tough Stuff is the brand's multi award winning body scrub. Personally I generally tend to stay away from body scrubs as their granules tend to really irritate my skin, however this didn't. It can be used both on dry or wet skin and I'm amazed by the fact my skin wasn't angry at all after application with scrubbing gloves. And I was even more surprised to see how gentle it was considering one of the ingredients is walnut shell powder.<br />
However this is the most perfect tool to remove old fake tan before applying a new layer as well.<br />
When I use this in the shower twice weekly I close my eyes and the fresh Gardinia smell brings me to a walk in a lush, beautiful garden full of flowers all around me. <br />
Also for all the super girlie ladies out there that love pink (not me) you will be happy to know that the product is also pink, to match the brand signature packaging colour. <br />
<br />
You can find a complete list of stockists in Ireland and the UK <span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;"><a href="http://www.cocoabrown.ie/" target="_blank">HERE</a></span> . For anyone outside these countries, <a href="http://www.feelunique.com/brands/cocoa-brown" target="_blank"><span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">FeelUnique</span></a> and <a href="http://www.cloud10beauty.com/brands/cocoa-brown.html" target="_blank">Cloud 10 Beauty</a> ship Cocoa Brown products worldwide.<br />
<br />
I would like to take this chance to thank the PR team for helping with my "beauty advisor" slot at the recent Uk and Ireland Albinism Fellowship conference here in Dublin.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PMFARWEog2k/VFosv4fcvbI/AAAAAAAABu0/v8Xjn3Bc4TY/s1600/10644904_852265544805981_574989407939297252_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PMFARWEog2k/VFosv4fcvbI/AAAAAAAABu0/v8Xjn3Bc4TY/s1600/10644904_852265544805981_574989407939297252_n.jpg" height="283" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Today marks Nystagmus awareness day.<br />
I have mentioned it a few times before on my blog but just in case you haven't heard of it yet, Nystagmus is an involuntary movement of the eyes, resulting in a great decrease in vision acuty.<br />
It can be either present from birth or come on later in life, in my case it comes with the albinism "package".<br />
<a name='more'></a>There are different types of it: side to side - the most common-, vertical or even circular.<br />
Throughout my whole life I was always very conscious about it and it resulted in me not being able to look someone in the eye for longer than maybe 3 seconds, ever.<br />
<br />
Growing up in a small, provincial town in Italy I was always reminded that there was nothing science could do to help to solve any of the issues with my eyes, be it the Nystagmus, vision itself or anything else.<br />
About 7 years ago though I started being more curious in regards with anything connected with Albinism and I would spend hours scouring the Internet for new possibilities and studies.<br />
Armed with a tonne of papers I marched into my ophthalmologist's surgery and demanded to have my eyes straightened and to cancel out my Nystagmus.<br />
I was massively heart broken when, after dozens of attempts, we couldn't find my null point (where my eyes almost completely stop moving) therefore a surgery to correct my strabismus couldn't be performed.<br />
However the doctor was very intrigued with my next discovery, a study carried out by Leicester University in 2006 which looked at treating Nystagmus with medication. In case you are interested, <a href="http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ana.21065/abstract" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a> is the original documentation. <br />
Basically they used 2 different drugs, Memantine and Gabapentin, to see if and how could Nystagmus be improved. Essentially they are normally used respectively to treat Alzheimer's disease and epilepsy.<br />
It was decided I'd be put on Gabapentin, and because it's such a strong anticonvulsant, the process to reach my maximum dose was slightly longer than I expected.<br />
Firstly though I underwent a thorough neurological check up to check I was 100% fine to start with, then I was put on a 300 mg daily doze for 2 weeks, after which I went back to see the neurologist to make sure there was no side effects. For a month after that I was put on 600 mg a day and had to go for another neurological visit; after that I started with my current 900 mg. 6 weeks later the neurologist gave me the green light to just go for it. For the first 2 years I went back every 6 months and now once a year.<br />
<br />
There are 2 types of people in life: those that came before and after I was put on the medication. Those that knew before were all absolutely stunned by the massive improvement in my visible eye movement, the second kind wouldn't believe it when I show them videos of people with a strong Nystagmus and tell them mine would be like that.<br />
In terms of confidence it has done me the world of good, I can now look people in the eye for minutes at a time without having to look away within seconds (although my "non straightness" still bothers me greatly), I can engage in conversation without looking rude or uninterested and stare downs are a fun challenge. <br />
The other goal of the trial conducted in England was to see if vision itself would be improved and although I am still classed as legally blind, I have to confirm it has gotten slightly better, especially when it gets dark.<br />
If any of you would like to try it out for themselves, please do get in touch with your eye doctor and do demand neurological visits as these meds are not to be taken lightly.<br />
If anyone has any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask in the comments below, by e-mail or via Facebook or Twitter.<br />
<br />
Thanks for reading,<br />

I know, I know, I'm no VS model but I'm not going to photoshop my photos for this blog.<br />
This was a €10 Penneys job from this summer's collection and I was ok with it. My only little concern was that the fabric connecting the top and bottom wasn't long enough, it kept dragging the top down and I had to tug it up a few times during the day.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-p6VA0hOYAYA/Ufp7TyT7ZCI/AAAAAAAABkI/g3iH0cskAu8/s1600/DSC_7930.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="penneys primark swimsuit bikini summer 2013" border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-p6VA0hOYAYA/Ufp7TyT7ZCI/AAAAAAAABkI/g3iH0cskAu8/s400/DSC_7930.jpg" title="penneys primark swimsuit bikini summer 2013" width="225" /></a></div>
Same as above, same price, same shop, same tugging issues. But I just LOVE Aztec prints and I love this colours! I thought they'd look good on me whether or not I was going to go for a bit of fake tan or not.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This was my outfit from the day trip to my beloved Florence which I'm planning to visit in October for a weekend at my American friend's, the designer <a href="http://hazyfairyland.blogspot.ie/2011/12/opaque-transparencies-photo-shoot.html" target="_blank">I've modelled for before</a>. The Aztec sequin skirt is from Boohoo, though other online stores stock it in some other shades too, the t-shirt says "I want to live happily ever after" and is from Italian brand Motivi. The bag I've had for many years and it's by Rocco Barocco, an outlet bargain it was! On my feet I am again wearing my new New Look sandals seeing as we walked around all day. I was asked a few times from photos I Tweeted/Instagrammed where I got the sun glasses, I bought them in an accessory shop in my home town, but many shops and on-line stores carry them now. Remember to ALWAYS buy shades with screens! Look after yours eyes.<br />
<br />
Let me know what you guys think. I found it quite hard to dress during the day as it was unbelievably hot and humid.<br />

40ml</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
RRP €7.50</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Firstly I wish to apologise for the poor quality of the photos, unfortunately I am going t have to rely on my phone for the foreseeable future so, please bare with me.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Cicaplast is one of those super cult products you will find reviewed on most beauty blogs and that is the kind of items I am generally weary of. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I was very intrigued then when<a name='more'></a> I recently got the new purse(and cabin luggage) friendly, 40ml tube to test out. I was a woman on a mission to prove people wrong, not because I don't trust the brand(all the contrary!) but because I'm never one to follow the herd.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
With panthenol, shea butter, glycerin, madecassoside, and a blend of copper, zinc and magnesium as main ingredients, it's marketed for any skin type and pretty much any skin condition that doesn't involve an open wound including eczema, grazes, chapped lips, rough patches, sunburn, nappy rash, chaffing and many others.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
As the "gotta see it to believe it" kind of person I am, I set out to test it on anything I could and here's what: heat rash, dry patches, a friend's sunburn, a friend's irritation from insect bites, wind burn, chapped lips, to soften the lines on my wrists and knees(we all have them!), chaffing and ... I was proven wrong.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
When I'm wrong, I'm wrong...</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As balms go I find it very thick and takes a few minutes to completely dry, but boy does it work its wonder!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have used it on my recently really dry nose and knees and I found it was very hard to blend if by accident it came into contact with the moisturisers I was using on my face and legs. But it only took a few more extra minutes to blend and dry.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
No matter the amount of lotions and potions, unfortunately genes have blessed me with really dry skin and the fact that it has no pigmentation barrier, lines form very easily on my body, so I decided to try it to soften them on my wrists and knees and I have to say, when applied daily it did do its air brushing job!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When I applied it on my face my eyes did not shed one single tear either, hooray!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I guess my beauty blogger butt has been truly kicked by this little fella, and all I can say is that it's going to be purchased soon as I'm almost out.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Has anyone else used for any other skin troubles? I would love to hear all about it in a comment below.</div>

Usually if I'm away for longer than a week I will bring products to do a new manicure while away.<br />
This time though I knew I probably would have not wanted to spend time doing that but rather relaxing(or attempting to) and being with my friends. So I had to come up with an idea that would not bore me after a few days, and this is what my creativity gave birth to:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-NOY9M77S8z0/Ue6fW8RXGxI/AAAAAAAABhE/OlH9TyYqUUI/s1600/PhotoGrid_1372178509798.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="blue green turquoise emerald gradient ombre nails kikocosmetics #385 & 17 cosmetics Catwalk Couture. modelsown Indian Ocean. kikocosmetics 298. essence cool breeze special effect topper 17 cosmetics double gloss topcoat #nailidea #nailideas #nails #notd #nailart #irishbbloggers #bblogers #nailinspiration #seanails #gradientnails #ombre #gradient #ibbloggers #blue #turquoise #summer #summernails #albinism #instadaily" border="0" height="400" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-NOY9M77S8z0/Ue6fW8RXGxI/AAAAAAAABhE/OlH9TyYqUUI/s400/PhotoGrid_1372178509798.jpg" title="blue green turquoise emerald gradient ombre nails kikocosmetics #385 & 17 cosmetics Catwalk Couture. modelsown Indian Ocean. kikocosmetics 298. essence cool breeze special effect topper 17 cosmetics double gloss topcoat #nailidea #nailideas #nails #notd #nailart #irishbbloggers #bblogers #nailinspiration #seanails #gradientnails #ombre #gradient #ibbloggers #blue #turquoise #summer #summernails #albinism #instadaily" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
As a background canvas colour I used Colour Club "French tip", then with a cosmetic sponge I created the ombre effect using KIKO n. 385 and 17 Cosmetics "Catwalk Couture"(which I believe has been discontinued unfortunately). I often get asked
<a name='more'></a>how I get my gradient nail designs so vibrant, and my main secret is to sponge the design on a couple of times, let it dry and then repeat the process 2 or 3 more times. Also as you practice, you will find what orientation you prefer on your nails, personally I like to see the darker colour near the cuticles and the light towards the tip.<br />
I let the ombre dry and then went for a bit of effects madness and here is a break down of them:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This, instead, is my current manicure, 2 polishes from the KIKO "Sugar Mat nail lacquer" collection : n. 641 "Strawberry Pink" and n. 643 " Spring Green". This was just one coat on most fingers and it dries very quickly to a sugar texture like many we have seen lately; the added effect though is given by tiny particles of gold pigment that look particularly vibrant in the sun light.</div>

The other day I went out looking for a pair of shorts for the summer and a new bikini for my upcoming little summer break at home.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Well....I didn't quite go to plan...</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I came home with neither of those but with something else instead </div>

New Look, size 12</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For a few years now I have been looking for the perfect summery, yellow dress. However as we all know not any shade of it will look nice on blondes with fair skin, so when I saw this I just had to at least try it on. BIG mistake, I loved it, I had to have it! So I did. It will look even more striking after I've applied a little bit of fake tan.</div>

New Look, size 6-39</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Last summer I bought a pair of size 5 gorgeous wedges with overlapping straps on the whole length of the foot, but when I took them out a few weeks ago and put them on, to my horror I found out they don't fit me anymore?! Apparently my feet have strangely grown a little. Any other summer I would have worn them regardless but unfortunately the straps were painfully pushing down on my scar tissue from the surgery so had to say good bye to them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And so I found myself with either trainers or ankle boots for summer. I do spend all the time either bare foot or in flip flops at my parents' beach cabin but could never bring myself to wearing them here in Ireland, I don't know why.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So the above sparkly beauties are my new summery companions, hoping the warm weather does make a come back in the next few weeks.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I picked them because they are flat, so perfect for day time rumbling around, but also dressy enough to be used for night time parties on the beach.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Boohoo, size 14 </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I have seen this skirt in all its colour combinations floating around different websites for a good few months now(although never in this tones), however I could never justify paying close to 50 quid for a skirt I wouldn't exactly get a lot of wear out of. Last week the lovely Marissa Carter(the same that created <a href="http://hazyfairyland.blogspot.ie/2013/02/cocoa-brown-tan-photos-review.html" target="_blank">Cocoa Brown Tan</a>) wore the very same skirt on her weekly feature on TV3's Xposé and I HAD to ask her where she got it from. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
She directed me to Boohoo and my heart sank a little bit when I saw they were out of stock of my size. After pondering for a few hours, thanks to the fact it was in the sale, I decided to go for it and purchase the size bigger, I could have always taken it in at the waist had it been too big.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Well today it arrived and although I should have learned by now that Boohoo does wear a size too small, I am so glad I went for the upper size as it fits like a glove on the waist. RESULT!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
....I am still a bikini short though! That'll be my next mission!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Any of these take your fancy?</div>

<br />
If you know the reasons why I have gone awol from my blog, I apologise, if you don't, you really don't want/need to.<br />
But I AM trying to bring things back to normal.<br />
<br />
Anyway!<br />
In the last few weeks I have reproduced(amongst others) a couple of nail creations which I am rather proud of considering my eye sight. Incidentally they have also been rather popular amongst shops assistants of every field as well.<br />
<br />
For the first of the 2 I am showing today I used the following:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-V0Q-IWnXsic/Ubmis57mbVI/AAAAAAAABec/MOU9TyRNH98/s1600/IMG_20130613_113723.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"> <img alt="Barry M "Mint Green", KIKO #330, Colour Club "French Tip" and KIKO #385" border="0" height="235" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-V0Q-IWnXsic/Ubmis57mbVI/AAAAAAAABec/MOU9TyRNH98/s320/IMG_20130613_113723.jpg" title="Barry M "Mint Green", KIKO #330, Colour Club "French Tip" and KIKO #385" width="320" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
L-R: Barry M "Mint Green", KIKO #330, Colour Club "French Tip" and KIKO #385</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And here are a couple of photos of the end result:</div><a name='more'></a>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-hWDnfL9mVeQ/UbmiasJQZrI/AAAAAAAABds/U_dvu_2gS-w/s1600/DSC_7480.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"> <img alt="nail art easy flower flowers rose roses Barry M "Mint Green", KIKO #330, Colour Club "French Tip" and KIKO #385" border="0" height="400" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-hWDnfL9mVeQ/UbmiasJQZrI/AAAAAAAABds/U_dvu_2gS-w/s400/DSC_7480.jpg" title="nail art easy flower flowers rose roses Barry M "Mint Green", KIKO #330, Colour Club "French Tip" and KIKO #385" width="225" /> </a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-rza9mJtI7ZM/UbmiiVSWj_I/AAAAAAAABeU/HGCjB4jmnMk/s1600/DSC_7482.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="nail art easy flower flowers rose roses Barry M "Mint Green", KIKO #330, Colour Club "French Tip" and KIKO #385" border="0" height="400" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-rza9mJtI7ZM/UbmiiVSWj_I/AAAAAAAABeU/HGCjB4jmnMk/s400/DSC_7482.jpg" title="nail art easy flower flowers rose roses Barry M "Mint Green", KIKO #330, Colour Club "French Tip" and KIKO #385" width="225" /></a>
</div>
I waited for the background colours to dry completely before moving on to the next step. I applied small blobs of white polish, then waited a few seconds for it to go a little tacky: it's a lot easier to "draw" if it isn't completely wet, otherwise colours will just mix into one. I dipped the tip of a tooth pick in the blue and drew a spiral inside the white blobs. Then proceeded to draw details with another tooth pick, dipping it in the white, or blue, or both, according to the type of detail I wanted to achieve. Once satisfied I painted little leaves with China Glaze "flyin' high" and finished of with 17 Cosmetics double shine top coat.<br />
It took me a hell of a long time to get those tiny details and it resulted in very sore eyes, but boy was I satisfied! I kept this design on for a good 2 weeks, I liked it THAT much!<br />
It also got me a few "your nails are gorgeous"'s at the Irish Beauty Bloggers event a couple of weeks ago, which threw me a little because I wasn't expecting it from "in the know" people.<br />
<br />
Next up id my current manicure.<br />
The last 10 days Ireland has been swamped by surprising summer weather and temperatures, everyone was out and about in their best colourful, skimpy numbers and the general vibe about the country is what brought me inspiration for this design.<br />
Here is what I used:<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
First I applied 2 coats of the yellow and let it completely dry. Secondly I grabbed a cosmetics sponge and painted 3 parallel stripes with the colours, making sure they slightly overlapped one another and then rolled the sponge over the nail. I repeated this 2 or 3 times as I wanted a really opaque result. I also applied the Essence gorgeous top coat on the thumb and ring finger. The whole design topped with the double shine 17 Cosmetics top coat as a shiny top coat brings gradient designs together better than leaving it bare.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I am rather proud of these designs and I wonder what others think of them. How about you let me know in a comment? That would be much appreciated.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thank you,</div>

<br />
I know, I know....a fake tan in a pink bottle is the LAST thing you expected to see on my blog...<br />
It is no secret that I'm not a fake tan-aholic for a long series of reasons but I just HAD to try this one!<br />
What mainly did it for me was the amount of rave reviews it got from bloggers and customers. But also a contributing deciding factor were the person behind it and the ingredients.<br />
The creator of this tan(and soon to come other products) is a lovely Irish beautician, Marissa Carter, who's been in the beauty industry for years, owns her own salon in county Dublin and is often involved in the media sharing her knowledge. She also very successfully en<br />
<a name='more'></a>gages with customers on Twitter and I know this earns her plenty of kudos, and not just in my eyes.<br />
Cocoa Brown 1 hour tan was developed with the best kind of vegetable derived DHA(the tanning agent) and with sensitive skin in mind.<br />
<br />
Although I had read great things about it, I still was a little hesitant when I went to try it, Well....I need not have!<br />
Upon pressing the pump to get some of the mousse out, your nostrils are immediately filled with the lovely scent of Tahitian Gardinia and it doesn't leave you until you wash off the excess. For research purposes I sniffed my arms, legs and chest every now and
again, and didn't once get digestive biscuits shot up my nose: result!<br />
Application is SUPER easy(trust me, if I didn't get it wrong, nobody ever will!) and pretty much dries as soon as you spread it so there's no standing around freezing your bits off.<br />
Now here's the clever bit: this baby starts developing in ONE hour! So if you're only after a hint of a glow, off the shower you go! If you want a deeper colour however you only have to wait for 2 more hours. Yep, a nice deep tan in only THREE hours!<br />
I was curious to see how deep it would go and this is the result of the 3 hour wait, after I showered:<br />

Nice colour, isn't it?! As the days go by it fades REALLY nicely, even if you're not pedantic about moisturising every 5 seconds. Note I typed DAYS, yes, DAYS: the colour is still lovely after FOUR days!!!<br />
At €7.99 you can't honestly go wrong!!! <br />

This product will make happy all those fair skinned ladies(and lads!) who have been e-mailing me asking for fake tan recommendations. <a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AG9kFr9Eb_0/USpDj7VOjOI/AAAAAAAABZc/qlTwjq84SpI/s1600/Barry-M-Textured-Nail-Effets-Spring-2013-Collection-.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="232" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AG9kFr9Eb_0/USpDj7VOjOI/AAAAAAAABZc/qlTwjq84SpI/s320/Barry-M-Textured-Nail-Effets-Spring-2013-Collection-.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
When I saw the press release and photos of these sent to bloggers pre-sale, my eyes immediately screamed at me "get the mint!". Yellow isn't too flattering with my skin tone, I don't do pinks and the light blue was too obvious a choice for my blue obsession.<br />
The other day I was in Boots buying some essentials when a force just pulled me to the Barry M display. Y'see I couldn't remember the actual sale date; I only recalled it was going to be available on their web site and in Superdrug on a certain date, and a few days later in Boots. (Dear brands that really is a little silly, different dates for different countries and different stores etc etc. It just creates confusion and frustration).<br />
So when I didn't see these darlings on show I asked one of the ladies if she knew when I'd be able to buy them.<br />
<a name='more'></a> She answered: "I am not too sure, I know we have some new stuff going up tonight so you might be able to get them tomorrow". Slightly saddened I carried on with my hunt for the new "Gene squeezed into a smaller bottle" Vaseline deodorant -yes, it's hard to believe but I too sweat-, when the cosmetics lady came looking for me. Aaawww. "I just asked one of the ladies and she said we have them already in the drawer if you wanna look at them".<br />
I thought: "oh, just lookie? no buy?", but when I asked if I could buy one right then she said "yeah, sure, of course!". Happy Lil skipped off to the till. Yes, I did physically skip, so what?! I felt all cool "and stuff" buying something the day before it went on actual sale.<br />
'Tis the small things in life y'know.<br />
<br />
Fast forward to application time.....I was slightly puzzled when it laid as a normal texture free polish. I had a little trouble painting it on as it's really runny and not easily controllable with the brush. I tried a first coat and decided it wasn't opaque enough so I went for a second one which did the job. I had to wait a good 5 minutes until it dried and actually turned grainy. It was like magic!<br />
It dried really matte which I like. My one little issue with it is that because of its textured nature it's prone to picking up dirt and particles of stuff flying around, even attempting to keep them spotless, after a couple of days I couldn't wipe them clean anymore. Maybe using a matte top coat might keep them cleaner?<br />
As far as removing it I would say it kind of places in between regular polish and glitter: not exactly effortless but it won't drive you bananas either.<br />
Having said that, I am absolutely MAD for the colour! It's SO gorgeous and it made my pale hands actually look tanned?! The power of optical illusion!<br />
These 4 little wonders are available in Boots and Superdrug in Ireland and The UK and <a href="http://www.barrym.com/products/nails/effects/textured-nails.html" target="_blank">here on their website</a> with delivery all over the globe. <br />

Ladies with highly sensitive skin the world over: rejoice! <br />
<br />
Before I left for my surgery in October, I was under an enormous amount of stress and I was well aware of the fact the surgery, the waiting for the results was going to bring even more strain and that would have played havoc on my skin. So I made it my ONE mission to find a proper, good product that would help me keep all that in check.<br />
As an heaven sent a couple of weeks before I left I was given the chance to try this product for free and I somersaulted to the chance!<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
Here is what La Roche-Posay have to say about this little wonder:<br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
"For couperose-prone, sensitive and fragile skin & Intense redness. Immediately calms sensations of discomfort. After 4 weeks, redness is
reduced and the complexion is more even. Proven anti-relapse efficacy. Apply in the morning and evening to areas in need of treatment. For
optimal efficacy, use with ROSALIAC UV hydrating anti-redness skincare
treatments."</blockquote>
</blockquote>
What do I say? HELL TO THE YESSIR!!!<br />
<br />
First of here is what it looks like:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OT7ay2ph8Mk/URJiaa-PgDI/AAAAAAAABNU/D6-l7e-Qz38/s1600/DSC_0974.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="La Roche-Posay Rosaliac AR Intense" border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OT7ay2ph8Mk/URJiaa-PgDI/AAAAAAAABNU/D6-l7e-Qz38/s400/DSC_0974.jpg" title="La Roche-Posay Rosaliac AR Intense" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FvwLwl4xxgw/URJiakZu4cI/AAAAAAAABNc/zSz8V0daQLo/s1600/DSC_0977.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="La Roche-Posay Rosaliac AR Intense" border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FvwLwl4xxgw/URJiakZu4cI/AAAAAAAABNc/zSz8V0daQLo/s400/DSC_0977.jpg" title="La Roche-Posay Rosaliac AR Intense" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7xuBM521ubY/URJibcba0_I/AAAAAAAABNg/d6BdXUbRt2M/s1600/DSC_0978.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="La Roche-Posay Rosaliac AR Intense" border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7xuBM521ubY/URJibcba0_I/AAAAAAAABNg/d6BdXUbRt2M/s400/DSC_0978.jpg" title="La Roche-Posay Rosaliac AR Intense" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
Don't be scared by the slightly off putting colour (I was a little), as you can see once applied you don't really see it.<br />
I was surprised by the fact it didn't come out as a normal redness calming, green tinted cream.<br />
I would class the consistency as a really light gel. It applies REALLY well and instantly cools any excess redness/sensitivity, although it takes a good few minutes to sink in completely.<br />
<br />
The key with this product is to apply only on areas that require it, for me it's cheeks and chin. After only a good few days I did notice a change in my skin, a lot less raw and painful.<br />
After the surgery I was on so many different meds and my stress levels were doing cartwheels (and still are, sadly) but this baby absolutely counteracted it!<br />
I have been using this in the Alps -in and out of houses with fire places and high heating, spending a lot of time outdoors-, in the last few weeks here at home - using the laptop a lot, with polar winds, with my bedroom reaching 13C degrees when I wake up in the morning...whatever harsh conditions I've thrown at my face, this little bottle has put a shield over it.<br />
That's how I would describe the immense change in my skin.<br />
I love face and body products that come with a pump to ensure you get every last drop of product, although the OCD in me wasn't too impressed with the fact it didn't have a cap so I find myself cleaning its top with surgical spirits every 2 to 3 days. <br />
Preservative-free, paraben-free, alcohol-free, fragrance-free, colorant-free and with decongestant La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water: you have NO excuses not to get your mitts on it!<br />
La Roche-Posay is easily available worldwide so you should have zero trouble haunting it down.<br />
<br />
If you have tried it or are going to, I would like to hear your opinion, just leave a comment below.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I ADORE these colours!!! However I am aware of the fact they would only look good on me if I had a bit of a (fake) tan or dark trousers </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am growing more and more fond of red and this jacket seems the perfect git and cut for my body type, elongating my torso and hiding/slimming my hips</div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-x0KyIScFFsU/UQPv5QQHXXI/AAAAAAAABCg/tJZ3n6X-I6k/s1600/DSC_0202.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="ombre nails china glaze" border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-x0KyIScFFsU/UQPv5QQHXXI/AAAAAAAABCg/tJZ3n6X-I6k/s640/DSC_0202.jpg" title="" width="360" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This was an ombre effect created with China Glaze "Rich & Famous" as a base and then merging that with KIKO n. 295. I used a cosmetics sponge to achieve the gradient. The ring finger features a layer of Rimmel matte top coat, the other nails have a coat of Models Own Indian Ocean.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The following creations all feature my latest obsession in nail polishes: Essence Special Effect Topper "night in Vegas". I think in the last 2 and a half months since I purchased it, I've used it on every other manicure. Completely and utterly fallen for it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I found that the darker the polish underneath, the more you appreciate all the different hues in the topper. Also the flecks in it shine more accordingly to the warmth of the base; the warmer colours will make the yellows and oranges stand out more, the colder ones will make the green and more pinkish reflexes stand out more.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-23vQ1G7G3kU/UQP0pHwjzxI/AAAAAAAABDQ/2F-_uJ0FFXo/s1600/DSC_0348.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="kiko 362 261 essence las vegas topper" border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-23vQ1G7G3kU/UQP0pHwjzxI/AAAAAAAABDQ/2F-_uJ0FFXo/s640/DSC_0348.jpg" title="" width="360" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8N0CLwK0pi0/UQP0qe8VGCI/AAAAAAAABDY/8_gwmjct3pY/s1600/DSC_0349.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="kiko 362 261 essence las vegas topper" border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8N0CLwK0pi0/UQP0qe8VGCI/AAAAAAAABDY/8_gwmjct3pY/s640/DSC_0349.jpg" title="" width="360" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--162bO94_UE/UQP0qTC8PLI/AAAAAAAABDc/st61eR0EM_Y/s1600/DSC_0350.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="kiko 362 261 essence las vegas topper" border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--162bO94_UE/UQP0qTC8PLI/AAAAAAAABDc/st61eR0EM_Y/s400/DSC_0350.jpg" title="" width="396" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is KIKO n. 362 as the red base with the Essence top coat, with the exception of the ring finger which sees KIKO n. 261, a clear polish with teeny, tiny saturated lavender sparkles.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uGx-pIJ_H2I/UQP69lGCNkI/AAAAAAAABEY/5dyWPZ0kWQI/s1600/IMG_20121220_131755.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="china glaze flyin high essence las vegas topper" border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uGx-pIJ_H2I/UQP69lGCNkI/AAAAAAAABEY/5dyWPZ0kWQI/s400/IMG_20121220_131755.jpg" title="" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is one of my all time favourites China Glaze "Flyin' high" with the Essence topper. For the ring finger I went for Kiko n. 385 with THE most awkward chunky glitter polish EVER both to apply and remove from The Collection line "Bedazzled", thankfully I got this for free before Christmas as I bought 2 more products or I would be seriously demanding my money back.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/--WvcvmUlN3M/UP6JvcTpthI/AAAAAAAAA-w/H1ktTMPWgMc/s1600/DSC_0888.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"> <img alt="kiko 385 essence las vegas topper" border="0" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/--WvcvmUlN3M/UP6JvcTpthI/AAAAAAAAA-w/H1ktTMPWgMc/s640/DSC_0888.jpg" title="" /> </a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-gBEuGQeu_fs/UP6JzSZHv6I/AAAAAAAAA-4/BpnNfEHHMNY/s1600/DSC_0886.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"> <img alt="kiko 385 essence las vegas topper" border="0" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-gBEuGQeu_fs/UP6JzSZHv6I/AAAAAAAAA-4/BpnNfEHHMNY/s640/DSC_0886.jpg" title="" /> </a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-j8OPy140te4/UP6J2hZKvKI/AAAAAAAAA_A/bw1AJTzA14o/s1600/DSC_0889.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"> <img alt="kiko 385 essence las vegas topper" border="0" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-j8OPy140te4/UP6J2hZKvKI/AAAAAAAAA_A/bw1AJTzA14o/s640/DSC_0889.jpg" title="" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This was my birthday manicure, absolutely adored it and got a lot of compliments and questions about it: KIKO n. 385 with the Essence topper and Models Own "Indian Ocean"on the index and ring finger.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I am honestly trying my hardest to stay away from it for a while now, but I find it utterly hard to resist. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Maybe I need help?! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Any tips on how to "detox"? Or does anyone have the same problem? Maybe you have a similar "addiction"to a certain polish or top coat? Please feel free to share your experience.</div>

I went for Inglot as I'm forever drooling over the photos of their makeovers, celebrity looks and themed weeks.<br />
The lovely Kayleigh at their counter in the Jervis Shopping Centre looked after me and this is what we came up with. I apologise in advance for the horrible lighting but it was an horrendously dark and wet day with barely any actual light.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NuzRQJx7j_c/UQAZS4yLSPI/AAAAAAAAA_0/KFbx3NRHkus/s1600/DSC_0772b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NuzRQJx7j_c/UQAZS4yLSPI/AAAAAAAAA_0/KFbx3NRHkus/s640/DSC_0772b.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5RyKfg9MavY/UQAZU63Z8VI/AAAAAAAAA_8/CaygMZAMZzw/s1600/IMG_20130116_160132.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5RyKfg9MavY/UQAZU63Z8VI/AAAAAAAAA_8/CaygMZAMZzw/s320/IMG_20130116_160132.jpg" title="inglot makeover" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jNUF1cgVWiw/UQAZWCUOI7I/AAAAAAAABAA/xzuQESNxeHM/s1600/DSC_07861.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jNUF1cgVWiw/UQAZWCUOI7I/AAAAAAAABAA/xzuQESNxeHM/s400/DSC_07861.jpg" title="inglot makeover eyeshadow" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qYhdcLScCLI/UQaoYfrjW6I/AAAAAAAABG0/zXCiRBfQDqc/s1600/P1060746b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qYhdcLScCLI/UQaoYfrjW6I/AAAAAAAABG0/zXCiRBfQDqc/s400/P1060746b.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
Here is a list of the products she used, I asked her to write everything down and she was so nice to do it.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
foundation n. LW 100</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
concealer n. 64 (used very sparingly)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
translucent powder n. 12</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
highlighter n. 83</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
blush, a mix of n. 31, 34 and 46</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
eye shadows n. 327, 329, 355, 393 </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
brow powder n. 560</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
lip pencil n. 63</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
lip duo n. 18</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
black gel liner</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
individual lashes</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
The makeover was €25 and you can actually use that to redeem products the MUA has used or others.<br />
I bought the lip duo she picked for me, plus another one and of course a couple of nail polishes.<br />
The lip duos are a nifty little product! A super creamy and hydrating lipstick and a lip gloss in a nifty, little, handy cube.<br />
<br />
Here are my purchases<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-PY7LAgquQ2A/UP6JTUNyDFI/AAAAAAAAA-Q/nP4oeSpezSs/s1600/DSC_0892.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"> <img alt="" border="0" height="180" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-PY7LAgquQ2A/UP6JTUNyDFI/AAAAAAAAA-Q/nP4oeSpezSs/s320/DSC_0892.jpg" title="inglot lip duo 18 24" width="320" /> </a> </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
n. 722, the PERFECT summer Sun yellow and n. 805 seductively red</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I will very likely be back soon for that brow powder or maybe a lighter shade for more easy daily wear.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have to say it was kind of comforting to see the result as it's not overly different to what I achieve when I can take my time to do my make up.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These are my first Inglot polishes and I have quite high expectations for them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For more info you can check out <a href="http://www.inglotireland.com/" target="_blank">InglotIreland.com</a> if you're in Ireland or <a href="http://inglotcosmetics.com/">InglotCosmetics.com</a> to find your nearest counter or order on-line.</div>
What do you guys think of my little make over? Have you tried their polishes yet?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Drop me a comment and let me know.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A few days in advance I had also purchased this dress from <a href="http://iclothing.ie/darby-baroque-print-bodycon-dress" target="_blank">iclothing.ie</a> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-j9_1TSUYi1o/UQAnVQMkWHI/AAAAAAAABA0/QZdHXl8bWuU/s1600/dress.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-j9_1TSUYi1o/UQAnVQMkWHI/AAAAAAAABA0/QZdHXl8bWuU/s320/dress.jpg" width="164" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
but the weather has been so cold since that I haven't been able to wear it yet. I want to take the chance of this mention to thank the people at iClothing for being so supportive of me and my little blog, also when I was back in Italy going through surgery. Furthermore they took it upon themselves to send me a goody bag to cheer me up a bit and what was inside actually showed the care they take of their customers and the great work they do with social media and bloggers. And guys, if you're ever short of a stylist or model, you knoww where I'm at.</div>

Yep, that's how some friends have affectionately temporarily re-labelled me. Charming or what?!<br />
<br />
It has now been 4 weeks since surgery and only last week I got the results of the tests performed on the tissue they removed from my left foot: I got the all clear! It's just that my moles, like the rest of my body, feel the need to perform uniquely and appear dangerous when they actually aren't. But as they say "better safe than sorry".<br />
<br />
I am still walking with one crutch which frustrates me greatly, and although the wound is healing faster than expected, I still have quite a while to go before I can go back to running, long walks and heels. I have worn nothing but flat pumps and I'm honestly getting bored of them.<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
I haven't been active on the blog for a few reasons which I feel I have to elaborate on.<br />
I couldn't really sit and write and edit photos as the way the PC is located at my parents', makes it close to impossible for me to now sit at it for longer than 5 minutes and not get cramps on my leg. I was in a great deal of discomfort and pain for a good 2 weeks and I didn't want that to influence my writing. Reading about somebody else's pain isn't exactly entertaining, I am sure. This is also why I have been very absent on social media platforms. Because I was under a great deal of stress and on a few different meds, my skin wasn't up to its usual perfection, so I wasn't really wearing make-up or testing out new products. I am quite impressed by how great I managed to keep it. You pretty much can't tell now!<br />
<br />
I am absolutely stunned by my head, out of the 3 months I was carrying this huge question mark over my head, and especially since surgery, I have only had 3 or 4 days during which I actually thought "what if.....?". Positive attitude an' all that.<br />
<br />
Other than the mobility issues what really annoys me about this whole thing is that it kind of isolated me from people and I feel like I'm going to have to start over when I get back to Dublin next week.<br />
<br />
I am going back to hospital hopefully for the last time this afternoon to have the remainder of the stitches remved. Some pain I tell you that!<br />
<br />
I will be back to normal blogging order soon, I promise!<br />

...No, sorry to disappoint you guys, but this ain't a new "50 shades of Lil" style segment on the blog. Interesting and entertaining as it would be.<br />
I'm in my bed back in Italy, and it's 3am. Very few hours away from surgery.<br />
I'm surprisingly very calm and strangely soothed.<br />
I'm not worried. I'm not stressing. I'm not agitated. I'm not upset.<br />
In my head I keep thinking that this'll turn out to be nothing but just a little meaningless nuisance. One of those episodes that is there on the path of life, to give you a little kick in the you-know-what, to remind you that you could be in a much worse situation. <br />
I also have the utmost faith in my doctors, no matter what the outcome. <br />
There is one little aspect though that's going to be bugging me : the fact I won't be able to walk properly nor long distance, for a few weeks.<br />
I'm not entirely certain of what it'll be like, will I require walking with crutches for long?<br />
I remember from the first surgery 11 years ago how frustrating it was to use them! They drove me up the wall and I ended up sticking to them for only half the advised amount of time.<br />
I'm a walker, i used to be a running champion, for crying out loud! Tuesday alone I went on a 10k walk at the sea side.<br />
I am grabbing this opportunity to thank anyone who's taken the time to send me messages over the last 6 weeks. GRAZIE! <br />
I shall, of course, keep you lot posted .</div>

This is one of the beauties I picked up, n. 362 Poppy Red with Rimmel matte top coat and Angelica multi colour glitter, on the thumbs and ring fingers.<br />

<br />
I am so utterly in pure LOVE for KIKO polishes. They have the most amazing shine and super smooth finish, the brush make it a dream to apply and dries hard super quickly: at less than €4 I think they are the best high street polishes I have EVER tried!<br />
I am really not used to red make up on me but I have been told over and over that it IS my colour, so I thought I should start play with it.<br />
The Rimmel matte top coat has an amazingly smooth finish too and, I know I'm 578396754 years late in falling for it but, I don't think there's a better rival for this on the market now.<br />
I threw in a bit of glitter for good measure, the matte finish was looking a little too bland for my usually super BAM! nails. This would be a good slightly understated Christmas manicure,<br />
The general consensus from the "public" about this is that it's "really sexy".<br />
Yeah, I think I'll go with that...<br />
What do you think?Hazy Fairylandhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11942956869894145438noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4934848676770723960.post-29495815354899983072012-10-01T06:59:00.001-07:002013-06-17T04:49:41.723-07:00Unimportant, indispensable detailsThankfully I am a different person to the one I thought I was when they found my first melanoma, 11 years ago. Mainly because I didn't know what was going to happen.<br />
<br />
But now I have that magic power of hindsight and that's what helped me keep it together and not lose it whilst I was going through all those tests a few weeks ago.<br />
<br />
The morning of every day I was facing some test or appointment, I found myself obsessively fixating on my looks: what I wore, make up, accessories and hair.<br />
One might say "you're going to hospital, for crying out loud! should you not be worrying about something else?!". Instead, I didn't.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
Primarily I think two aspects plaid together behind this: immense gratitude and pride, and that inner, tiny part of me that will never come to terms with the big C.<br />
<br />
During my routine yearly tests, I had never met any of the doctors that directly dealt with my case way back when, but I knew that, because circumstances were different this time, I was going to face those amazing people from 11 years ago. In particular the oncologist that did surgery on me.<br />
I obsessed over how my eyeshadow was blended, I applied and reapplied a lip colour up to 10 times until it was as perfect as a partially sighted can get it. I changed about 10 outfits, for about half an hour I deliberated over what way to dress my hair.<br />
I suspect it was how my survival instinct kicked in "focus on your looks, no thinking space to be worrying or freaking out about what is actually about to happen".<br />
I took particular care in my appearance because I wanted to show them that their hard work had paid off. I wanted them to see the human being I developed in to. I wanted them to see that despite what happened then, I still bulldozed on in life. Yes, I have massively struggled, and still do, but I'm nevertheless fighting to get "there", to get to the top. I wanted them to look at me and think "wow, look at what we helped to flourish!".<br />
<br />
Then there's that part of me that will never get to grips with the fact that, no matter what I do, no matter what great care of me I take, for the rest of my life I will always be prone to cancer.<br />
During those hospital days I probably subconsciously thought "you'll always have this hanging over your head, no matter what you do, you have absolutely no control over it, you might as well control REALLY well what you can. Your looks".<br />
<br />
I predict a massive encore next month for surgery and all the appointments there after.Hazy Fairylandhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11942956869894145438noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4934848676770723960.post-47181736401791771592012-10-01T04:14:00.001-07:002013-02-24T11:04:41.606-08:00Layla Cosmetics - Ceramic Effect polish n. 64As I mentioned in my post before I left, I was going to spoil myself a little whilst I was away.<br />
I especially went "ä smidge" mad in the nail polish department. It has to be noted though that half of the purchases are presents for friends/other fellow bloggers, or I will be giving away on here, and yes it will be for everyone, all over the globe.<br />
One of the brands I was looking forward to checking out was Layla Cosmetics, an 100% Italian brand, and in particular their polishes. Unfortunately, as Murphy's law persecuted me for the whole stay, when I had a chance to visit a local beauty supply that stocks them, they were low in stock(for pretty much every other brand too...) so I didn't really have much choice. I will make sure to go back next month.<br />
<br />
This is one of their goodies I managed to pick up: it's n. 64 from the Ceramic Effect range. Their web site presents the range as: "perfectly smooth nails in one motion. A nail polish with a professional finish. It doesn't require a base.".<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
It has to be noted it is very smooth, but no smoother than many other drugstore brands. It applies quite effortlessly, although the super precise brush picks up way too much product and needs to be "unloaded". The photos in this post feature show 2 very thin coats(no top coat). Drying times is pretty much average.<br />
The "professional finish" bit is quite debatable, with a good base and a steady opaque application, most polishes can look professional.<br />
As for the no base claim, I'm not really one to risk and always use one anyway. As if I'm not going to apply a base coat with such a "scary" colour!<br />
<br />
Now let's get to the colour itself: it's a deep purple base with a sapphire reflex. Unfortunately the gorgeous blue tone can only be appreciated in the sun light, but boy! is it a really striking hue! Indoors it's simply a really glossy deep purple.<br />
This is one of those polishes that just make you sit outside or by the window and just stare at your nails for hours on end!!!<br />
Here come the evidence<br />

<br />
Although I'm not really one too bothered about seasons when it comes to my nail dressing, this strikes as a perfect, all-year-round polish. Would you agree?<br />
