Not so much lost in translation...

You know what they say "when one or more of your senses don't fully work, you over develope the others", which in my case is TOTALLY true!
Throughout the years my body has pushed me to make up for the lack of vision: my smell and taste are very acute, my ears hear stuff they shouldn't, and I am very touchy....and not just with people.
So much so that one of my fave past times when I'm out somewhere is listen to other people's conversations; not so much because I am nosy, but because my eyes get "bored" of not seeing much so my body entertain itself by listening to every tiny little sound.

I was recently in a park, relaxing on the grass and enjoying the breeze. My eyes pretty soon got "bored" of the tree in front of me and the 3 pigeons sunbathing on my left, so my ears thought "hey, why not listen in on to this bunch of Spanish on the right!". Well my dear ears, I despise you.....and I also temporarily despised the fact I can speak a bit of and perfectly understand Spanish.
The group of 2 girls and 2 boys were sitting there happily talking about me and laughing at me. You see that day I had decided to walk out the door with no make up on, I very often do that, so that made me an even easier target for derision.
I shall not repeat the comments, but let's just say it wasn't anything I haven't heard in 26 years of almost daily verbal abuse, sly comments etc etc.
It went on for about 15 minutes, and when they went to get up and leave, I burst out a "I am REALLY loving Fernando Alonso with Ferrari this year" in my best Spanish. Well.... they didn't look too impressed by my Spanish knowledge. Oooops....

I went back to enjoying the birds singing and the distant sound of the tram's "ding ding", when I noticed a small group of young women claiming the spot where the Spanish had been sitting.
As soon as they were within ear shot I thought "oooh... Frenchies! Girlie talk about fashion and beauty perhaps? Please?". Did I mention I can speak French too? No? I do.
Well let me tell you they were the most boring group of Frenh women I have ever met; they were talking about somebody's brother's girlfriend who couldn't decide what car to buy. You know me, I'm a complete and utter petrol head, but listening to most women discussing cars makes my blood boil. Besides, they were French, they were MEANT to discuss fashion and/or beauty, for godness sake!
So I disconnect my ears and almost fall asleep when...holy moly, they are laughing! But...hold on a second, they are not just laughing, they're laughing at me! How dare the boring fashionless, beautyless Frenchies laugh at me?! Tsk!
So I let them have their little pathetic fun and when I saw them gathering their things to leave a while later, I spat "so who do you prefer between YSL and JPG?", in French obviously.

Making ignorant people feel small is priceless... for everything else there's Mastercard! (if your bank is nice enough, that is)

POTD: nom nom

Barry M - Lemon Ice Cream.
This is a GORGEOUS colour! A couple of coats were enough for it to be very opaque.
Personally I think it's more of a cream colour, when I think of lemon I think of more of a lime-y yellow.
(thumb looks a bit weird because it was tea bag repaired)

New layout!

I know there's no need to point it out, but I thought I'd make this post to have some feedback.
What do you guys think? Anything you would change? The background design is apt?

Also after banging my head against the wall for a few days, I have managed to fix the comments box which went missing for a few weeks. I did wonder why people weren't leaving comments anymore, until the lovely Mariella pointed out to me that she had tried to comment a few times but couldn't.

Let me know what you think guys¬

TAG: What if...

I'm stealing this from Loulou on YouTube. She didn't tag me(I'm not cool enough, haha!) but oh well. If you wanna see her channel go here .
I am perfectly aware that being from YT I was meant to do a tag video, but I am going through quite a few self issues regarding YT at the moment so, a post is what I did instead.

I am tagging EVERYONE that reads this post, I know how brutal it is to feel not included. If you decide to do a video or post about it, please leave a comment with the link. Thanks

1. If you could meet any person, dead or alive who would it be??
I have a few choices. Number 1 it's got to be Shay Given(for those of you from the U.S. or not really into football, he's an Irish football player in the English Premier League whose career I have been following for the last 13 years or so); there are a few things I would like to ask him and share with him. Also I would like to meet the best eye surgeon in the world and ask him/her to sort my eyes out somehow.

2. If you could visit anyplace in the world, where would it be??
Most definitely Canada! Either in spring or fall with all those colours nature has to offer. I would like to travel from side to side by train or coach, go camping.
I have travelled to pretty much a good 80% of European countries, many of which I have visited more than once, and the only ones missing that I would REALLY love to see are Scandinavia: Sweden, Finland and Norway.

3. If you could have chosen your own name what would it be??
I honestly haven't got a foggiest.

4. If you where invisible for a day what would you do??
I would go about the high street and steal lots of clothes and beauty stuff before going to the airport and jumping on a plane to somewhere I'd like to visit.

5. If you had one wish what would it be??
I would wish for more wishes.

6. If you could be any animal, which animal would you be & why??
A horse or a butterfly: both super beautiful animals which enbody the idea of freedom

7. If you could bring one character to life from a book who would it be??
Alice from the original Alice's Adventures In Wonderland.

8. If you had one superpower, what would it be??
20/20 vision would do me just fine, thanks.

9. If you could be any any again for 1 week what age would you be & why??
Probably when I was 18. Although I had a very hard time whilst dealing with cancer, it was also the year I was allowed to start travelling on my own. In the space of a few months I went to London for a long week-end and I took my first ever trip to Ireland in the summer. I can safely say that was what you can call the trip of a life time: although I had dreamed about that moment for YEARS, it completely and totally surpassed my expectations by a hundred miles! So much happened in that year and I started to prperly learn that I am perfectly able to do things by myself despite the disability.

10.If you could go back in time to watch any concert or Festival, what one would it be??
DEFINITELY go back to the concert I went to in 2005 at the Olympic Stadium in Rome for U2 "Vertigo" tour. Also The Script at the Olympia in Dublin last year, a very small venue but one AMAZING gig.

11.If you could do anything, what would you do??
I would find someone to fix my eyes.

12. if you could master one any skill what would it be??
When I was younger I wanted to learn to speak many languages, and I did that with English, Spanish and French. I wanted to learn to horse ride, and I did that too. I wanted to learn how to "put things together" and I did that with furniture with my old job, and how to build houses which I also did(although to a lessen extend). I would definitely like to master my make-up skills. I also would like to learn to drive but I guess it's safe to say that'll never happen :-(

my SJP hair accessory box

Being one that never wastes anything, always recycles everything and likes a bit of DIY...I give you my most recent brain fart.
A couple of weeks ago I treated myself to a little something which came with the most adorable and colorful box. It seemed too cute to just throw away so I kept it in hope to reuse it for something.
The day after I went to look for a hair band in my hair accessory box and as usual had to take everything out to find it and take it out. My little colourful cupcake box then sprung back to mind and hey presto! a new idea was there.
I used pieces of a cereal box to reinforce the sidex and lid where it was bending so it would keep rigid, and opened one of the corners of the front lid panel so I can open it without having to hold it down.

Plus I browsed through a magazine and picked out a few images I liked thinking about making a little collage to stick under the lid to "prettyfy" it a bit...but then just ended up using the ad for the new SJP fragrance. I used tape to stick it to the lid so if I find an image I like more, or get sick of that one, I can replace it and have a brand new box.
ET VOILA ! A new wider box which will allow me to look for something without having to take everything out every time!
What do you guys think? Pretty? Waste of time? Bleurgh?

POTD: sparkles

ChinaGlaze Anklets of Amethyst and Blue Sparrow.
First of all let me tell you the camera did not pick up the purple right, it seems more reddish in the photos where as it's actually more towards a fuchsia.
Secondly the camera makes the blue look really vibrant and sparkly....which it isn't. I was actually disappointed by Blue Sparrow. In the bottle it looks very vibrant and with a lot of lighter blue sparkles, and it does look like that when it's still wet...except it goes VERY dull and the sparkles are almost invisible once it dries(I put 2 coats on).
As for Anklets, it didn't let me down at all!!! Vibrant and withe right amount of sparkles(not glitters).

*EDITED*: despite the polishes being FULL of tiny sparkles, they weren't hard to remove at all. Very pleasantly surprised!

FOTD saturday , august 25th

So first of all I want to apologise for the lack of posts in the last couple of weeks but(if you follow me on Twitter you will already know) I was away. Me and the boyfriend decided to go visit his family down the country and ended up staying a whole week instead of the planned 3 or 4 days. The weather was so wonderful that we thought we'd better make the most of it as it was probably the last of the Sun we were going to see this year...and we weren't wrong as it has been raining non stop since saturday morning.
We even took a day trip to Galway and for the rest of the week did a lot of walking in the sun in the country side and a lot of DIY and gardening.
Unfortunately though I came back with a really nasty rash which was(my guess) brought on by the sun, the cream and sun glasses; it was particularly bad where my shades touched my skin, not nice at all. it's only just starting to go away.

So, let's get to the subject of the title:

I am wearing:
Revlon Colorstay normal/dry skin in the colour Ivory mixed with MAC Select SPF 15 in the colour NW 15
L'Oreal Voluminous waterproof in black
Collection 2000 kohl in brown
and my brow pencil from an Italian brand called PUPA

Yep, that's all!
I have a review of the Colorstay foundation coming up, let me know if you guys prefer it on here or a video one on YouTube....or both!
