Birthday makeover at Inglot

Last Wednesdays was my Birthday and seeing as I haven't exactly had a great last few months, I decided to treat myself with a little make up fest.
I went for Inglot as I'm forever drooling over the photos of their makeovers, celebrity looks and themed weeks.
The lovely Kayleigh at their counter in the Jervis Shopping Centre looked after me and this is what we came up with. I apologise in advance for the horrible lighting but it was an horrendously dark and wet day with barely any actual light.

Last week I gave an interview for a feature in an Irish newspaper which will be published soon, and Monday I had my photo taken for it. It will be about my experience with cancer and my condition.

A few weeks back I found myself parted from most of my basic make up; it's a long story and I'm sure you really don't wanna hear about it.
Anyway, because I had a few occasions to attend, I needed emergency, inexpensive, but still quality make-up, so I ran to my nearest chemist.
Here is a quick review of some of the things I picked up.

Catrice skin finish powder, 010 transparent: this powder is a-maze!!! I use this as a base as  I don't really need foundation, especially in the summer, and it stays on for a long, long time. I also used it as an eye primer as I didn't have my UDPP, and it worked wonders! Perfect skin tone match as well.
Essence Sun Club, large matt bronzing powder, for blondes: if you're really fair and usually go for soft bronze and blush, this may not be for you. It's quite dark to be designed for light skinned blonde but as I often like to enhance my defined cheek bones, this is perfect for me.
Essence eye brow designer, 04 blonde:as for above, it may be designed for blondes, but if you like your brows quite light in colour, don't go for this. Also, as most brow liners go, it has a very reddish under tone that show up especially in photos. Super easy application though, and it last all day without budging.
Essence long-lasting eye pencil, 04 hot chocolate: this liner is an absolute dream! It's so soft it glides on effortlessly, super easy to smudge -even with your fingers- and it stays on for hours without the need to be touched up and no primer.
Rimmel 1000 kisses lip tint, carry on cherry: really does what is says on the tube! The slim tip is a major bonus for me as it allows a great, precise application even for the blind-as-a-bat like me. The balm really moisturizes and makes the tint last longer. No need to re-apply every hour like most lippies, you don't feel it on your lips and they are not left dry at the end of the day.

I must say, after years of people telling me I should try a red lip, I gave in, at last. As you know I;m generally not a lipstick fan as I can't be doing with constant reapplication and they dry my lips out very quickly, but I'm really liking all these new moisturizing lip tints! Any suggestion?

I bought this dress back in January in Italy. It's from my fave Italian brand, Rinascimento. I was SUPER lucky to pick it up during the winter sale and I seem to remember it was 50% and it came to about €40. Unfortunately you can't appreciate all the detail in the photo but it was very dark outside and this is the best I could do that evening, sowwy.
You can't see the shoes but I was wearing these . I thought it was a nice contrast with the dress.
I have to be honest when I bought this dress I had NO idea it would attract the attention it did; at one point during the evening I kind of almost regretted it. I am seriously not used to much attention and/or compliment.

Apologies for the crap lighting but that's the maximum we get on a sunny day. The dress is 3 year old, by my fave Italian brand Rinascimento. Shoes are from 4 years ago, also bought in Italy.

My "walking" face

Very recently myself and a bunch of Dublin based people came up with the idea of weekly meetings, but to make it more interesting and fun, we threw in "long walks". The other day we did the first official one: 8k in and around Phoenix Park. If you are based in Dublin and interested to join in, just look up the tag #twalkup . It's not always the same day every week and we'll sometimes have 2 a week, as it's got to fit around people's various commitments.
So this is the face I had on the other day, just a touch of Rimmel Day 2 Night mascara and a bit of brow pencil. Everything else is au naturel.

I haven't posted much the last couple of weeks...

Last week-end two friends of mine came over from England for this



We went to see The Script twice at the O2 here in Dublin and we were out and about all week-end.
Here's a few photos I ruined with my mug

Then on monday I woke up with a pretty bad head cold which 2 days later was so bad I could barely stand up for 5 minutes as the pressure on my head was too much. I couldn't sit in front of the pc for longer than 2 minutes as it would make the migraines a lot worse. Thankfully I did not get a temperature but it is some monster of a cold! I feel a lot better now, although I still blow my nose every 10 seconds, cough a lot and sound funny when I talk.

I have a pretty big ELF haul and mini reviews to do but I'm waiting for my voice to get better so I can do a video about it instead of just a typed review. It will feature nail polishes, brushes, a tinted moisturiser, a concealer and an eye shadow quad. Most of it will be extremely positive, although with some pretty big negatives.

In december I won the only thing I have EVER won in my life on Lovely Sarah's blog x Beauty Geek x : I won 3 Sleek Makeup items an eye shadow palette, a blusher and a tinted lip balm.

This is the eye make up I had on the other day, no point in seeing the rest of the face as I had NOTHING on, with such a dramatic eye look I thought best to keep it everything else down.

I know Christmas is over an' all but I didn't get the chance to post this before. Sowwy..

This was my FOTD the friday before Christmas, I went to check out the posh Dublin shopping center mainly for the atmosphere and lights, it's not like I had money I could spend or anything..
So, here goes

...although these are not "of the day" but "of the night", but seeing as I never go out I don't really need a "of the night" tag...

It was just a relaxed night at the pub, nothing uber fancy...
And here's my mug...

for my eyes I used my trusty L'Oreal Waterproof Voluminous in black and Lancome waterproof Kohl in Black.
The gold is Barry M's Fine Glitter Dust in the colour 10 Yellow Gold (even with a very sticky base this is starting to be a bit of a hassle to wear for me because the little particles keep falling in my eyes during the night making them very watery and often smudging the make up too much). The blue, also applied along the lashes but not all the way in, is from Naj Oleari and it's called Blu Oceano.
Concelear is the usual MAC Select in NW15 under my eyes, on the bridge of my nose and on my chin, add a bit of Lancome Tropique Minerale smoothing loose bronzer and voila!!

Very very simple make up:
- on the lid I mixed Vintage Violet and Bougainvillea from the Frontcover Eye Spy palette on the outer 2 thirds of the lid and outer 2 thirds of the bottom lash line
- one of the silvers from the Coastal Scents 88 shimmer palette in the inner third of the lid and inner third of the bottom lash line
- on the outer 2 thirds of the lid L'Oreal Eye Designer, colour 413, eye liner
- 17 Waterproof mascara in the colour brown black

That's it, very very simple!
You don't ALWAYS have to go for over elaborate make up
